I am always on the lookout for things that will bring me a little taste of Spain here in California. Usually I mean that literally, as Spanish restaurants almost always top my to-do list (and almost always disappoint!). When I want to get in touch with Spain and I’m not hungry (a very rare state indeed), I use a great website to help find local events involving and/or promoting Spanish culture, art, music, and design, among other things. If you click on the red image, you’ll be taken to the aptly named Spain Art and Culture site for the US, where you can look up events by city as well as theme. Recent events in SF have included an annual flamenco festival featuring artists such as Diego El Cigala and a showcase of young Spanish designers at Fort Mason that was sponsored by Freixenet and B44 and included plenty of free cava and canapes. If you live in a big city, chances are they’ll eventually have something to offer in your area, though it’s pretty New York-heavy, as many things are!
